Havana, Apr 30.- Cuba’s International Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2018, scheduled for May, is a unique business opportunity not only for this country, but also the Caribbean region, officials stated.

 

The organizers of the event are very optimistic, due to growing expectations about participants who can exceed 3,000, in addition to 140 specialized journalists.

The heads of major travel agencies and Canadian tour operators will be present to renew their crown as Cuba’s major tourist-sending market.

Visits to places of interest, contacts and programs, not only for winter, but also for the summer season, will give a touch of distinction to an extremely attractive event (Cayo Santa Maria, Villa Clara, May 2-5). The commercial director at the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), Miguel Bernal, mentioned recently Cuba’s aspiration to receive a record of five million foreign holidaymakers this year.

At the end of 2017, Cuba was visited by 4,689,898 foreign tourists, the highest number in the country’s tourist history.

Therefore, Cuba grew 16.2 percent in that period, reporting increases of 3.5 to 4.0 percent in most of nations of the world, as proof of the dynamism of the tourism sector.
