Santa Cruz del Sur to boost self-employment

More than 460 self employees registered at the end of the year 2011 in Santa Cruz del Sur. Such figure might even increase in the current year 2012, as a result of the new ministerial resolutions, recently published in the Cuban Official Gazette, in order to increase this job modality in the country.

Many citizens from this southern territory have enrolled already in this kid of employment, among them we find housewives, retired people, workers, and people who remained available in other sectors.

Coffee shops, cafeterias, pizzeria, barbershops, joinery, photography and hairdressing are some of the main modalities of self-employment in this southern land, where hairdressing will have the opportunity of renting state facilities, according to the recent resolutions to come into force from this month on.

This mentioned choice of using state facilities spreads to other jobs like shoemaker, watchmaker, mattress repair, jeweller and electronics. The new possibility’s main goal is to offer a better comfort to self employees and their clients.

Some 279 members of the already 460 existing in southern Camaguey joined to social security, which protects the retirement of those people who nowadays work for non state employers. (Yamile Agrenot Castillo/ Radio Santa Cruz)
