Cuban Pinar del Rio City to Celebrate 114th AnniversaryPinar del Rio, Cuba, Sep 2. – Founded on the banks of a river and surrounded by pine forests, this Cuban city will celebrate its 114th anniversary among asymmetric buildings, centenarian avenues and insatiable walkers.The town, established in 1859, was honoured with the title of city on September 10, 1867, as a result of the socio-economic growth attained by the western territory at that time.

The granting of that category, claimed by residents of that town, meant the highest recognition to a community with clear signs of its own identity.

After 140 years, the Jose Marti or Real Avenue of the city continues being the stage of popular festivities, organized this time to celebrate the 114th anniversary of the city. (Prensa Latina)
