Honduran Teachers Call for National Strike
Tegucigalpa, Dec 7. -Honduran teachers called for a national strike to demand that the government pay the bonus and back wage in the recently completed school year.
The President of the Professional Teaching Training School, Edwin Oliva, said that the union will continue the struggle to assert their rights.
He said they have done their duties with the school year but the government still does not do theirs with us.
Teachers demand payment for November, as well as the payment regarding the extra monthâ�Ös salary paid at Christmas, holidays and academic quality, he said.
He also said that more than 5,000 teachers have salary problems since February. They are organizing a big demonstration for Wednesday.
According to the union leader, the budget for the teachers� payments got lost for administrative disorder in the Ministry of Education. (Prensa Latina)
