40 Countries to Attend Poetry Festival in Cuba        Havana, May 14. -About 160 authors from 40 countries will attend the 15th International Poetry Festival in Havana, from May 24 to 30, informed the organizers.

The event will be dedicated to the centennial of Cuban writer Jose Lezama Lima and Spanish poet Miguel Hernandez and bicentennial of the fight for independence in America will gather the most representative poets.

The host country will be represented by 80 writers together with colleagues from Angola, Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Spain, Ecuador and Mexico, that will also bring samples of their music and dance, explained the coordinator of the event, Alex Pausides.

At the same time the program includes a first meeting of the Network of festivals in Latin America and the Caribbean, founded in Caracas in 2005 that will count with the participation of the president of the Poetry Festival in Medellin (Colombia), Fernando Rendon among others.

There will also be a meeting of Poets in Defense of Humanity on the Internet presided over by Venezuelan Tarek William Saab.

One of the special moments, according to the organizers, corresponds to the Afternoon of books dedicated to Bolivarian poetry.

There will also be a Concert for Independence in the Havana Lazaro Peña Theater where, 50 years ago, Spanish poet Rafael Alberti and Cuban Nicolas Guillen presided over a meeting in support of the Cuban Revolution.

During the festival that this time is extended to all the provinces of the country a Rafael Alberti Latin American Prize will be awarded.(Prensa Latina)
