Cuban Women to Celebrate 51th Anniversary of their FederationCamagüey, Cuba, Aug 17.- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in the central province of Camaguey is ready to celebrate its 51st anniversary on August 23rd with 90 percent of women over 14 years of age in the territory as members of the organization.

Iris Jimenez, member of the provincial secretariat of the FMC told ACN News Agency that strengthening the structures of the organization constitutes a challenge for the good work of the institution adapted to the current needs of Cuban women.

The Federation of Cuban Women defends and facilitates women´s education, informs them on issues of maternity, communication with parents and children, domestic violence and shared responsibility in the homes.

As part of activities commemorating the 51st anniversary of the women´s organization and in salute to the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Writers and Artists Association (UNEAC) outstanding women in the territory will receive a special recognition for their contribution to culture.

Other activities will include recognition to women that participated in the Pan American Games held in Havana in 1991 and the athletes that will join the regional games in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 14th to the 30th. (acn).
