Chavez Suggests CELAC Summit for December

Caracas, Jul 28. – President Hugo Chavez suggested to other leaders of the region that the founding summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) be held on December 9.

Chavez sent his proposal in a letter carried by Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro, who is atending the inauguration of Peruvian President-elect Ollanta Humala, the Venezolana de Television news channel reported on Thursday.

Maduro will also attend an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Heads of State and Government of the Union of South American Nations, which will be held today after the inauguration.(Prensa Latina)
