Evo Morales Receives Peru’s President-Elect

Evo Morales Receives Peru's President-ElectLa Paz, Jun 21. -President Evo Morales on Tuesday receives Peruvian President-elect Ollanta Humala at the presidential palace.

According to the presidential press office, the two leaders will hold talks on issues of bilateral interest to boost relations and they will have lunch together.

Communication Minister Ivan Canelas stated on Monday that during his brief 24-hour visit, Humala and Morales will attend celebrations for the Andean and Amazonian New Year (5519).

Humala told Peruvian reporters that in his talks with Morales, he would seek to strengthen economic, commercial, and cultural integration, and promote pending projects.

The second part of Humala's Latin American tour, which first took him to Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile, will continue next week.

The postponement was partly due to the state of health of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, and a trip by ColombiaâÖs Juan Manuel Santos, Humala said.

The pending trip also will include Ecuador, whose President Rafael Correa said he hoped to continue the bilateral integration process implemented in the last few years.
