Spain: Free the Cuban 5
Madrid, Jan 14. -Spanish groups in solidarity with Cuba demanded that U.S. President Barack Obama immediately release the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States since 1998 for trying to prevent terrorist actions against the island.
At a meeting on Wednesday night, several organizations asked the U.S. president to free Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez.
Cuban flags and photos of the Five, as they are universally known, were waved during the gathering, organized by the Madrid Committee to Free the Five.
Also on the list were thousands of leaflets with a brief explanation of the unjust legal procedures the five men have suffered over the last 12 years, including their disproportionate sentences of up to double life terms.
The solidarity groups with the island and with this cause promised to multiply their actions and continue making known the case of Gerardo, Antonio, Rene, Ramon and Fernando until achieving their release and their return home. (Prensa Latina)
