Santa Cruz del Sur to increase rabbit-breeding

Santa Cruz del Sur, Oct 13. –Urban Agriculture System in Santa Cruz del Sur is working hard in order to implement the rabbit-breeding as a farming subprogram in all the Popular Councils of the territory and this effort is backed up by the more than 70 rabbit breeders that already exist in the municipality.

Nowadays the territory counts on 670 rabbit specimens distributed among all the breeders, and the Urban Agriculture System is already taking the first steps in order to lay the foundations of a future commerce of this so demanded animal species because of the quality of its meat and the usefulness.

The increase of the rabbit breeding will allow the breeders and consumers to acquire a very healthy protein, without any danger for the human health.

This subprogram has an easy application, thanks to the low cost production; its very-high breeding, and its accelerated rising-cycle, elements that make agriculture constitute today an expanding project all over the country.  (Hugo Betancourt Mayoral/ Radio Santa Cruz)
