The making up of the executive committee of Popular Councils continues in Santa CruzSanta Cruz del Sur May 27. – The “8 de Octubre” Primary School, located in the Haiti district, was the chosen place to perform the Solemn Assembly that chose the new leaders of the Popular Council representing this settlement before the government.  

Mayelín Hernández was chosen as president and Enrique Godoy Pereira was elected vice-president. Both of them have the merits, virtues and capacities, according to the 15 delegates who analyzed the moral characteristics of these representatives of that community. 

This important meeting was presided by Pablo Peribáñez, President of the Local Assembly in Santa Cruz del Sur, Francisca  Reyes, Local Secretary, and some other members of the Gobernment and the Communist Party in the southern territory.

Likewise, during yesterday’s morning, the members of the  Popular Council from Arroyo Blanco elected their president Salvador Valdés Mesa, Diputee to the National Assembly of the People’s Power representing this southern territory, who is also member of the member of the Cuba’s Communist Power Political Bureau( PCC), and Secretary General of the Cuban Workers Federation( CTC).  (Lisi Walcott Mora/ Radio Santa Cruz)
