Cuba shows progress on congenital hypothyroidism program
Havana, Sep 18.- Cuba’s Immunoassay Center highlighted the advances the country is showing today, where over four million newborns were studied as part of congenital hypothyroidism program.
‘SUMA technology: over four million newborns studied. It includes six diseases. Cuba was the second Latin American nation with a complete congenital hypothyroidism program,’ according to the center.
The program for the early diagnosis of congenital hypothyroidism in Cuba began in 1986 and is supported by the work of prestigious institutions such as the National Endocrinology Institute, the Immunoassay Center and the Institute of Neurology. (Latin Press)
