China, Cuba celebrate 10-year health cooperation at Anhoi Center

Beijing, Nov 8.- China and Cuba celebrated 10th anniversary of cooperation at Anhui Ophthalmological Hospital and ratified the will to expand ties in the health sector.

The official act was led by Liu Li, vice president of the Political Consultative Conference and Néstor Torres, Cuba’s consul in Shanghai. The Chinese leader stressed that in past decade four groups of Cuban specialists provided top quality services to patients at the Anhui Second Provincial People’s Hospital and assured the center will continue to support this project.

Ms. Li said the initiative is an example of international medical cooperation, a reflection of strengthened relations between the two socialist countries, high degree of mutual trust and close communication.

Meanwhile, Mr. Torres read a message from the Cuban ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira, reviewing the history of bilateral exchanges in health sector, and refering to the meaning of the mutual work at the Anhui Second Provincial People’s Hospital.

“Throughout these years, over 30 Cuban doctors have joined side by side with Chinese colleagues, in the noble mission of preserving health and guaranteeing health care for the Chinese people. This cooperation have yielded tangible benefits for both countries,” he said.
