Hugo Chávez, Daniel Ortega Speak by Phone
Managua, Jul 2. -Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez telephoned President Daniel Ortega to thank him for the get-well wishes sent by the Sandinista leader.
Venezuelans Support Chavez's Recovery Ortega received the "pleasant surprise" of a call from Chávez on Friday afternoon, according to Rosario Murillo, coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council.
Chávez is recuperating in Havana after the removal of a cancerous tumor.
During their conversation, Chavez thanked the Nicaragua president and people for their expressions of affection and solidarity.
The Venezuelan president also asked about the programs and projects of the ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America) in Nicaragua.
Murillo, who is Ortegaâ�Ös wife, said that during the phone conversation, the two leaders agreed that in Latin America and the Caribbean, the road to unity of the peoples has been rediscovered, and will be sealed with the founding summit meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean states, which Chávez will preside, she said.
