CDRs Award Fidel Castro with the Barrio PrizeHavana, Cuba, Sep 29.- The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, CDR, awarded Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro the Barrio Prize in acknowledgement of his leadership of the Revolution since the victory in 1959, his merits and his condition of founder of the largest Cuban grassroots organization.

The award was granted to Fidel during the closing session of the 8th Congress of the CDR at Havana’s Convention Center, which is being attended by Cuban President Raul Castro.

The Congress, which has been underway since Thursday, focused on crucial issues relevant to the structure and performance of the grassroots organization.

Some 460 delegates from all Cuban provinces approved the main report to the event at working strategies aimed at improving the work of the CDRs at all levels.(ACN)
