Cuba, Mozambique Strengthen Ties

Havana, May 23. – Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo was received in Maputo by Mozambican Prime Minister Aires Bonifacio Ali, during the second stop of a tour of Africa to strengthen ties, official sources stated on Wednesday.

During a meeting at the Government Palace, Lazo and Ali reviewed bilateral relations and talked about international issues, Granma newspaper reported.

According to the source, the Cuban vice president also met with the island's collaborators working in Mozambique, and paid tribute to the martyrs fallen in combat for the liberation of this African nation.

Last weekend, Lazo began his tour of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he talked with President Joseph Kabila Kabange, and Prime Minister Matata Ponyo.

The tour will continue in South Africa, a country that will hold the Global African Diaspora Summit.

Cuba and many African nations have strengthened cooperation in health, education and sports.(Prensa Latina)
