Choir Festival in Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, Nov 30. -With the presence on Wednesday night of Coro Nacional and the Camerata Vocal Música Aurea at the Dolores Concert Hall, the festival that for 50 years fills this city with musical voices will begin.Choral societies from Venezuela, Argentina, the United States, Colombia and Finland will perform along with 16 of the most important Cuban choral groups to reaffirm the validity of choral singing and the acceptance of the audience in a population that is eminently musical.

The Conservatory Esteban Salas, the ancient chapel of the Seminary San Basilio Magno, the Hall of the city, schools of arts, universities, prisons, churches and hospitals will be main scenarios of the thirtieth edition of the event.

The foreign choirs will be Le canta and Victoria from Venezuela; Audite Chamber Choir from Finland; Kimkelen from Argentina, and the choir from Edwardsville University in the US. Thursday and Friday will feature a workshop about this musical form by the Maestra Maria Felicia Perez, director of the Coro Exaudi and a recognized investigator of this theme.

Choral rounds will liven up the Festival until next December 4, when several choirs will join together in a big concert to end the festival and to foreshadow the next one, in a constant invitation by the city to sing in it. (Prensa Latina)
