Havana Theater Fest Begins Today

Havana, Oct 27. -Nearly 80 Cuban and foreign companies representing 17 countries gather on Thursday in this capital for the Havana Theater Festival, which also includes a space for reflection and dialogue.The program of the event, whose opening ceremony will be at the Pabellon Cuba exhibition center in this capital, includes three daily performances in 25 halls and 12 public spaces in Havana, as well as in Matanzas (west), and Cienfuegos and Villa Clara (central) as sub venues of the festival.

In parallel with this Festival, many theoretical events and workshops to foster and exchange experiences between playwrights and audience, will also be held. The Festival will also issue an urgent call for peace and against death.

A new feature of the Festival, which will run until November 6, is the performance for the first time in Cuba of the Ambassadors of Broadway Theater Company, a show with the most popular songs performed from the 50s to the present in the famous New York music scene.

Also on the list are the launching of specialized publications, screening of films inspired by theatrical plays, and the honoriing of emblematic national and international theater figures. (Prensa Latina)
