Cuba Reports Increase in Tourist Arrivals
Havana, Oct 26. -At least 2.64 million foreign visitors arrived in Cuba from January to September this year, an increase of 8.4 percent against similar period of 2010, according to the National Statistics Office (ONE).In that period, the major tourist sending countries were Canada (38.2 percent), Great Britain (6.8 percent), Italy (4.1 percent), Spain (3.9 percent) and France (3.4 percent.)
The monthly ONE report added that 142,322 tourists visited Cuba in September, or 5.8 percent over the same period last year.
On September 17, Cuba welcomed the international tourist number two million, a figure reached for eight consecutive years, which shows Cuba's position as a major tourist destination in the Caribbean region. (Prensa Latina)
