Cuban Tourist Caravan Ends Successfully in Galicia
La Coruña, Spain, Oct 6. -Under the suggestive slogan "Autentica Cuba" (Authentic Cuba), the Caribbean island concluded in this city a tourist promotion caravan that visited eight cities of Spain and Portugal in two weeks.Cuban tourism professionals visited Bilbao, Pamplona, Zaragoza, Madrid, Salamanca and the Portuguese cities in Coimbra and Oporto.
The Cuban advertising campaign was presented in front of more than 700 travel agency representatives, tour-operators, airlines and hotel chains, who were interested in those attractive offers.
Our objective is to promote the way we are in the world, as authentic Cubans, Iyolexis Correa, director of the Cuban Tourism Office in Spain and Portugal, stated in each negotiation rounds.
"We want to show our visitors we are much more that sun and beach, Cuba is, on the fringes of that goodness, a mix of incomparable quality that makes it special and enables to present it as incomparable destination," Correa said.
Designed by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) as part of the island's commercialization strategy in its main tourist sending markets, Autentica Cuba is supported by the people, its customs and social environment as a main attraction.
Hotel chains such as Iberostar, Sandals, Melia, Barcelo, Hoteles C and Sirenis; Air Europa, Iberia and Cubana de Aviacion airlines, and many touroperators, accompanying MINTUR representatives, attended the campaign.
Despite the economic crisis gripping Europe, Spain is among the four main source countries towards Cuba, only followed by Canada, the United Kingdom and Italy, Correa stated. (Prensa Latina)
