Camagüey Stands Out in Cuba for its Efforts Favoring SolidarityCamagüey, Cuba, Aug 25. – Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) in Camagüey province stands out in the island nation for its sustained work in consolidating brotherly ties with different nations around the world.  Deputy Head of the abovementioned organization Alice Corredera acknowledged so, and praised the personalized attention the ICAP has been giving to young people from approximately 70 nations who are studying in different universities of this province. Besides, she highlighted the ongoing exchange and rapprochement with members of the Russian, Haitian and Catalan communities established in this portion of Cuba.

The official added that “the work in favor of the five Cuban antiterrorist imprisoned in the United States, has also found fertile ground in factories, schools and communities”.

The Noche de la Solidaridad (Night of the Solidarity) is among ICAP Camagüey's most relevant actions, for it has been an initiative that even though was originated in this city 18 years ago, now it is also held in other provinces.

“This special night takes place every Friday on week-by-week basis, and it is one-off because in no other place it is held so frequently. Here the foreign students are protagonist of this gathering”, points out Corredera.

“Outside this country, I have had the chance of meeting alumni who graduated in educational institutions of Camagüey and they really feel very proud for having studied in this province and always ask for the friends they left here, regarded as members of their own families”, Alice Corredera stated.

For the valuable work ICAP Camagüey has been doing in boosting solidarity and making friends around the world, the Cuban Friendship Institute in this province, recently received the category Colectivo Distinguido granted by the National Union of Public Administration Workers.
