LanAm Film Festival Concludes in Venezuela

LanAm Film Festival Concludes in VenezuelaCaracas, Oct. 15. -The Margarita 2010 Latin American and Caribbean Film Festival concluded on Thursday after a week of exhibitions, competitions, and workshops with filmmakers from Cuba, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Venezuela.

The festival toured communities to show the best films made in those five countries this year.

"The festival is motivated by precepts totally opposed to elitist principles," stated its general director, Víctor Lucker.

One of the new features, added Lucker, is that the Margarita festival, organized on the Island with the same name, gave a privileged place to local or community videos, based on the experiences and expectations of that environment.

Sixty films in the categories of short or medium-length films, national documentaries, fiction films, and Latin American and Caribbean first works, were chosen from 150 entries. (Prensa Latina)
