Bolivia: Climate Summit Begins La Paz, Apr 19. -The World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth begins here on Monday with debate panels.

According to the schedule, the activities of the Live Well panel, where the goals reached by President Evo Morales will be dealt with, will begin in the afternoon.

Morales will be in charge of the official opening of the conference and the panel of scientific discoveries on climate change will be set up with the participation of world-known specialists.

According to preliminary reports, nearly 18,000 people and press media have registered in the accreditation offices and the number could reach 20,000 in the next hours.

The Summit intends to become an alternative of the peoples given the fiasco of the UN conference on climate change on December 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark, that failed because of the rich countries' interests.

The conference in Cochabamba expects to bring new proposals of the civil society for the next UN summit that will take place from November 29 to December 10 in Mexico.(Prensa Latina)
