Nigeria: Bomb Explosions Kill 25

Nigeria: Bomb Explosions Kill 25Abuja, Jun 27. -At least 25 people were killed and 30 injured in northern Nigeria when attackers on motorcycles threw bombs into bars, police said on Monday.

According to local authorities, the people injured in the attacks in Maidiguri, Borno, were taken to a university hospital in Abuja.

The bomb attacks damaged at least three beer gardens in that state, said federal police spokesman Lawal Abdulahi.

Although no group claimed responsibility for the attacks, independent agencies blamed the radical Islamic group Boko Haram, which has claimed responsibility for similar actions in the past.

Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the detonation of three bombs in Nigeria after the inauguration of President Goodluck Jonathan on May 29.

Persistent clashes in this western African nation, divided into a Muslim-majority north and a Christian-dominated south, have left an estimated 10,000 dead since 2009. (Prensa Latina)
