Book Fair Ends in Havana Chapter Havana, Feb 21. – The International Book Fair Cuba 2001 continous on Monday traveling the hole island of Cuba after a relevant first stage in Havana.

In the closing ceremony were awarded on Sunday the best stands, including 158 from 27 countries.

The International Book Fair was opened last February 10 at Morro- Cabaña Park, its main venue. There were other 10 venues in Havana and it will be extended to the rest of the country until March 6 in Santiago de Cuba province.

In its last journey in Havana 10 new books will be presented, including one written by Haitian actress and poet Michele Voltaire and another by Jacques Stephen Alexis.

Paraguayan writers offered conferences about poetry, novels, female writings and contemporary Paraguayan literature, and wtih the presence of Maribel Barreto, Lia Colombino, Eulo Garcia and Lourdes Espinola among others.

Cuban singer song-writer Teresita Fernandez received the Dora Alonso award in the Nicolas Guillen room at Morro- Cabaña Park.

More than 200 personalities attended the opening part of the book fair, among them Guatemalan Rigoberta Menchu, Noble Peace Prize, Venezuelans Luis Britto and Laura Antillano, Brazilian Anita Prestes, French Hever Fischer and Argentinean Vicente Battista.(Prensa Latina)
