Cuban FM Highlights Relations with El Salvador
San Salvador, Dec 8. -Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez highlighted the bright prospects for the development of political, economic, commercial relations with El Salvador.
In a meeting with members of the Committee of Foreign Relations, International Cooperation and Salvadorians Abroad of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador, several legislators appreciated Cubaâ�Ös solidarity with the Salvadorian people, mainly in health and education.
Rodriguez extolled President Mauricio Funesâ�Ö decision to re-establish diplomatic relations with Cuba as one of his first acts of government upon assuming power on June 1st, 2009 and noted that links have been intense in the past year, with visits to Havana by Funes, Vice President Salvador Sanchez Ceren, Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez, legislators and businesspeople.
Cubaâ�Ös top diplomat said that the objective of his three-day visit to El Salvador, started on Sunday, is to pave the best of ways for mutual relations and cooperation.
Deputies Damian Alegria and Karina Sosa, both from the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front, noted that long standing links between the two peoples remained strong despite of the breaking of diplomatic relations, thanked Cuba for its solidarity in natural disasters and its collaboration in health and in the campaign to wipe out illiteracy in El Salvador, and condemned the US blockade against Cuba.
Also on Monday, Rodriguez met with his counterpart Hugo Martinez in the cordial, frank atmosphere that characterizes bilateral relations, diplomatic sources told Prensa Latina. (Prensa Latina)
