Cuba Solidarity Meeting: No to Blockade, Free the Cuban 5Ottawa, Sep 27. -The Canada-Cuba Labour Solidarity Conference sent a message from Toronto to US and Canadian authorities urging an end to the financial, economic and commercial blockade of Cuba.

The letter, approved at the Sept. 24-26 meeting of Canadian unions and addressed to President Barack Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, urges the end of the White House-led 50-year economic war on Cuba.

At the conference, which brings together trade unions and union activists in solidarity with Cuba, Canadian writer Arnold August reminded participants that the blockade attests to the failed efforts of the United States for some 200 years to annex Cuba.

Carmen Godínez, an official with the Confederation of Cuban Unions Foreign Affairs Office also spoke on this issue.

At the closing cession the five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisonned for over 12 years in the US — devoted to Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González — Ramónâ�Ös wife Elizabeth Palmeiro spoke on the case and conveyed their gratitude "for the broad world support to their cause."  (Prensa Latina)
