A Shame for US Justice Marks 12 Years
Washington, Sep 6. -The 12-year imprisonment of five Cuban antiterrorists in the United States shames the justice system of a country that dictates lessons to the world on human rights.
That was the statement contained in a press release from the International Committee to Free the Cuban Five, part of a worldwide campaign that kicks off September 12 for the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, and Rene Gonzalez.
The Free the Cuban Five campaign will last until October 8, coinciding with the anniversary of the death of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, as part of the continuing battle for truth and justice.
"It will be denounced once more that on October 6, 1976, a Cuban airliner exploded off the coast of Barbados, killing the 73 people onboard," the press release said.
The committee reiterates its denunciation of the fact that the self-confessed authors of that criminal act, Orlando Bosch and Luis Posada Carriles, enjoy the privileges granted by various U.S. administrations.
The solidarity organization made the call for the release of the Five on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the death of a young Italian, Fabio Di Celmo, victim of the bomb that Posada Carriles ordered planted in Cuban hotels in 1997, as the press release noted.
The International Committee called to increase international awareness of the past 12 years of pain for five Cuban families, after the five Cuban antiterrorists were forced to remain in solitary confinement for over 635 days.(Prensa Latina)
