Raul Castro at Closing of Cuba Youth Congress
Havana, Apr 4.- Cuban President Raul Castro will speak Sunday at the closing of the 9th Congress of the Young Communist League (UJC), taking place at the Havana Convention Center with the participation of over 800 delegates, local press announced.
The speech will be broadcast by the radio and TV at 18:30 local time, Juventud Rebelde daily reported in its front page.
Participants to the meeting will previously debate issues brought forward yesterday in five working commissions, in the presence of Cuban first Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura.
A debate in plenary session will close the Cuban youth congress today, when agreements are expected to be made based on possible proposals.
Yesterday, the participants analyzed youth's contribution to the Cuban socioeconomic development and defense, as well as strengthening of the organization's internal structures.
They also commented on the UJC responsibility in the attention to students' federations, and education and politic-ideological formation of new generations.
The congress' closing coincides with the 48th foundation anniversary of the UJC and the 49th of the Jose Marti Pioneers' Organization, which groups children and adolescents in elementary and basic education. (PL).
