Camagüey Gets Ready for 2013-2014 School YearCamagüey, Aug 25. – Camagüey province gears up for the beginning of 2013-2014 school year on September 2nd, that’s why governmental officials at the provincial level fine-tunes each detail, especially everything concerning material provision and teaching staff coverage.

Together with provincial representatives of the Cuban Ministry of Education in this province, authorities of other entities involved in these preparatory tasks are checking the constructive state of schools, of which over 100 have been subjected to either capital or minor repairs.

“Martyrs of Pino Tres” High Agriculture Polytechnic School, located in the municipality of Jimaguayú, and “Silverio Blanco” Junior High School are two examples of these repairs.

Maintenance and repair of furniture, electronic devices, audiovisual teaching aids as well as the painting of walls and the paving of streets surrounding the schools are some of the actions to ensure everything concerning the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year.

Provincial Director of Education in Camagüey Mercedes Escuredo Olazábal stated that teachers, who are already back from vacation, have been organizing the text books, notebooks and other teaching materials that Cuban schoolchildren receive free. Besides, they are working to get each school and classroom dressed in their best before the 54th school year of the Cuban Revolution kicks off on September 2nd.
