Brazil to Open World Cup Stadiums Earlier

Rio de Janeiro, Dec 7. -Brazil will open the 2014 FIFA World Cup stadiums before the period estabished, Minister of Sports Aldo Rebelo announced.The minister also highlighted on Tuesday that the Maracana Stadium will have no problem to host the finals of the World Cup, despite undergoing major renovation works.

However, Rebelo acknowledged that there is a delay in the Rio Grande do Sul Stadium, but it is expected to be completed on time.

The International Football Federation launched a month ago a new and serious wakeup call to Brazil for the delays in organizing the World Cup, and agreed to lower the cost of tickets for Brazilian students and senior citizens.

Rebelo is also confident in the approval of the Cup bill by the House of Representatives before the end of the year, and in 2012 by the Senate.

The law, drafted by the government, recognizes FIFA as the exclusive holder of the rights of image, sound and other forms of expression during the World Cup and raises criminal penalties and fines for illegal copying. (Prensa Latina)
