Mexico Celebrates Anniversary of Granma´s Expedition
Mexico, Nov 25. -A ceremony celebrating the 55th anniversary of the departure of the expedition aboard the Granma yacht, led by Fidel Castro and to overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista in Cuba, will be held in the Mexican port of Tuxpan on Friday.The Granma yacht set sail from that port transporting 82 fighters of the 26th of July Movement including Raul Castro, Ernesto Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos, Ramiro Valdes, and Juan Almeida.
The expedition arrived in Cuba on December 2, 1956, creating the Rebel Army that overthrew Batista triumphing in January 1, 1959.
The ceremony will take place in Mexico-Cuba Museum at 06:00 (local time) with the participation of a Cuban representation and locals. (Prensa Latina)
