Tourism: Impact on Regional Development Analyzed in Cuba

Havana, Nov 23. -Nearly 200 delegates from 12 countries will discuss on Wednesday in Cuba the impact of tourism in regional and local development during the 2nd Convention of Geography, Environment and Land Management.According to the organizing committee of the forum, with venue in Havana city, the exchange of experiences will help to tackle the challenges of sustainable development.

The convention includes five scientific workshops dealing with the use of watersheds, recent urban studies, regional and local development linked to tourism, geoecology and land management, causes and consequences of climate change and hydrometeorological risks.

The convention will end on November 25 with a lecture by Rolando Garcia, assistant representative of the United Nations Population Fund, on the state of world population in 2011 and Cuba's situation.

The meeting is attended by nearly 200 delegates from Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Spain, France and Cuba, among others. (Prensa Latina)
