Relatives of Shot Teenager File Suit in Chile
Santiago, Chile, Aug 30. -Relatives of teenager Manuel Gutierrez, 16, who was shot dead during social protests last week, will file a lawsuit against those responsible of his death.On behalf of the relatives of the teenager, lawyer Washington Olivares will lodge the referred lawsuit.The authorities have reportedly arrested Carabinero police officer Miguel Millacura, after a ballistic report from the Chilean Investigation Police revealed that the bullet that killed Manuel was from his UZI machine gun.
The police officer confessed having shot twice in the capitalâ�Ös zone where Manuel died, but insisted that the shots were fired into the air.
Four other officials from the Chilean police were suspended from that institution, for allegedly covering up Millacura.
The government has also requested General Sergio Gajardo, second chief of police in Santiago to resign for discarding an investigation into the police corp following Manuelâ�Ös death. (Prensa Latina)
