Mercosur Summit to Be Held in ParaguayAsuncion, Jun 25. -Five presidents have already confirmed their attendance to the regular meeting of the Common Market and Associated States and the Mercosur Summit to be held next week in Paraguay.

The meeting, scheduled for June 28 and 29, will be attended by presidents Cristina Fernandez (Argentina), Dilma Rousseff (Brazil), José Mujica (Uruguay) and Fernando Lugo as host, it was made public in a press conference at the headquarters of the chancellery.

President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa will also attend the 42 meeting of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) as associate. For the first time, Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto will attend as special guest, according to Jose Maria Gonzalez, executive secretary of the Summit.

Gonzalez reported that the activities will begin on June 26 with the preparatory meeting of the Common Market Council and the special meeting of the Common Market Group, and will continue on Monday, June 27 with the same topics.

The regular meeting of the Common Market Council and associated states is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, to be attended by foreign ministers, ministers of Economy and Trade and Industry, presidents of central banks and special guests.

The summit of presidents of the Mercosur member countries is scheduled to start on Wednesday, June 29, in the morning and conclude with a press conference in the afternoon at the Convention Center of the South American Football Confederation, in the city of Luque.

Director general of the information office Ruben Penayo reported that President Fernando Lugo will hold separate meetings with Rousseff and Matsumoto. (Prensa Latina)
