Combatants of the Moncada Garrison exchanged with people in Southern Camaguey
Santa Cruz del Sur, Jun 24. –Leading figures of the battle of July 26th in 1953 toured Southern Camaguey this Thursday, where they exchanged with workers of some social institutions recently inaugurated.
The Pinar del Rio born José Luis López Díaz and the Havanan Ramiro Sánchez Domínguez, attackers of Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Garrisons respectively, visited the Local Courts, Prosecutor’s Office and the Pregnancy Care Home, and they also had a walk along the coast area.
In this area they showed interest in the damages caused by the Paloma Hurricane in 2008 and recalled moments of the 1932 Hurricane. The monument to the victims of that disaster and the cross marking the height reached by the waves were some of the sites appreciated by the Cuban combatants.
Both moncsdists amass the medals for the July 26th, the Clandestine Fight, and the 20, 30, 40 and 50 anniversaries of the Revolutionary Arm Forces (FAR). They also participated in the torch march developed in 1953 and were members of the Orthodox Party of those years. (Yanayma Rodríguez Molina / Radio Santa Cruz)
