Casa Literature Award Resumes Activities in Havana

Havana, Jan 23. -After concluding the reading of the works in contest in the south-central Cuban province of Cienfuegos, the jury of the Casa de las Americas Literature Award resumed activities on Monday in this capital.The program includes two panels, one on Language and Culture in Artistic Creation in the Caribbean and the other on Playwriting in Contemporary Theater.

Sessions, to be held at the cultural institution, will be attened by experts from Haiti, France, El Salvador, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Cuba.

The literary contest, which opening speech on Monday was given by the famous Uruguayan journalist and writer Eduardo Galeano, will announce the decision, in its six specialties, on January 26.

The respective juries, comprised by recognized figures, including some previous winners of such high recognition, will grant awards in the categories of theater, literature for children and young people, Brazilian and Caribbean literature, Latinos in the United States, and a special award on the black presence in the contemporary Americas and the Caribbean.
