Cuba Concludes 2018 with Nearly 90,000 Future Health Professionals

Havana, Dec 31 .- Cuba’s medical universities and other institutions conclude 2018 with 87,000 students studying at the highest level, said Sunday the Public Health Minister, Jose Angel Portal.

 

We continue to train health professionals in 13 medical universities and other institutions, where 87,000 students are currently studying’, he wrote on Twitter.

There are also 29,000 graduates studying residencies in different medical specialties, Portal said.

The official assured that in 2019 Cuba will maintain the goal of training professionals in the sector.

The Minister stressed on Saturday that next year health professionals will continue their commitment to care for the people.

We will begin 2019 with the growing certainty that our commitment to the Cuban Revolution is our commitment to the health of the people. And we will not fail to fulfill it!

Portal, also on Twitter, ratified the charitable vocation of professionals in the sector, recalling that in 2018; more than 34,000 of them offered services in 66 countries.

During 55 years of Cuban medical collaboration, 124 nations from several continents have benefited from the efforts of more than 400,000 physicians, nurses and health technicians trained in ethical, scientific, human and revolutionary principles. (Prensa Latina)
