Cuba: Intervening Syria May Have Grave Consequences
Geneva, Dec 3. – Cuba warned at the Human Rights Council that a civil war or a foreign intervention in Syria may have very serious consequences for humankind and, particularly, for the agitated region of the Middle East.
During the 8th special session of the Council, Cuba's Permanent Representative to the UN, Rodolfo Reyes, affirmed that his country closely follows the situation in Syria, being aware that information is fragmented, imprecise and manipulated.
Cuba is also concerned about the loss of innocent lives in any part of the world, but disagrees that the supposed protection of lives becomes the pretext for a foreign intervention and military adventures, which only sow destruction and multiply deaths.
Reyes noted that human rights are not the driving force of this new special session of the Human Rights Council.(Prensa Latina)
