Cuba to Hold 2nd Congress on Anti-Diabetic Foot Drug
Havana, Nov 5. -The Second Congress Heberprot-P, will be in session at the Havana Conference Center on October 3-5, 2012, it was announced here.Scientific secretary of the forum, Doctor Manuel Raices said participants will share results and experiences linked to the use of the compound, considered the only alternative to prevent the amputation of extremities on diabetic patients with terminal injuries, said the expert.
The freeze-dried compound, developed by the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), has the recombinant human growth factor as its active ingredient.
It is used by injecting the injury and its surrounding areas, showing a high effectiveness in treated cases, said Raices during the 29th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2011).
A pre-congress workshop-course, including three symposia, will be held before the event under the title Practical Applications of Heberprot-P on patients with diabetic foot ulcers, according to the website devoted to the event.
The first congress on Heberprot-P was held on October 2010, attended by 450 experts from 36 countries. (Prensa Latina)
