International Event for Cuban Five Starts Havana, Jun 11. -The Third International Youth Meeting in Solidarity with the Cuban Five imprisoned in the United States almost 13 years ago begins in this capital its three-day program.

The participants at the biannual meeting will visit on Saturday a community cultural project by the artist José Rodríguez Fuster, who supports the cause of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, Antonio Guerrero and René González.

Recently, at a question from Prensa Latina, the National Bureau member and head of International Relations of the Young Communists Union, Leira Sanchez, emphasized that the response to participate in the event has exceeded expectations.

We expect representatives from all regions of the world, and the position of the contemporaries of our area is very relevant in times of integration and close to the emergence of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, she said.

It is scheduled a conference on the case by the National Assembly of Popular Power, and the presentation of children's theater group La Colmenita with the play Abracadabra.

Four workshops will show the regional experiences in defense of the Five, the use of new technologies in this regard, various caricatures of the so called Humor Rebelde, and discussions about culture and nation.

On the last day of the conference, an interactive forum will be held on the Internet: "Freedom Now, End the Injustice, Release Them Now!" at http://www.foros.cubava.cu between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. local time.

As the closing, an event called Poets for the Freedom of the Five will be held in the Pabellon Cuba fairgrounds, with National Literature Prize winners Miguel Barnet and Nancy Morejon and a special concert.

In an interview with Prensa Latina, Anttoinete Marquez of the United States, who will participate in the event, stated that she would share experiences with other young people from around the world because "it is necessary to mobilize the greatest number of people to free Gerardo, Ramon, Fernando, Antonio and Rene."  (Prensa Latina)
