El Salvador: ALBA Boosts Integration ProgressSan Salvador, May 19. -The opening of a Salvadoran/Venezuelan modern fuel storage facility on Thursday is a boost for regional integration through the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America, ALBA.

The new facility is part of the ALBA Petroleos-El Salvador Company, founded on April 5, 2006 by the Inter-municipal Energy Association for El Salvador (ENEPASA) and Caribe de Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) subsidiary.

Its creation was an initiative of the historical leader of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), Schafik Jorge Handal, and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

The company was founded by FMLN city councillorson January 10, 2006, in a novel effort using public funds for investment.

This effort made it possible to develop one of the most beneficial projects for Salvadoran people in history, satisfying the energy needs of the nation with prices fair for consumers.

The new plant is located in located in the Pacific Ocean port of Acajutla, 85 kilometers southwest of the capital, and was built with an investment of about 120 million USD.

It storage capacity is 350,000 barrels for regular and supreme gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, and propane gas. (Prensa Latina)
