Cuba: Trial Begins for Terrorist Chavez AbarcaHavana, Dec 21. -The Courtroom of Crimes against State Security of the People's Provincial Court in the Cuban capital began trial proceedings Monday on terrorism charges against the Salvadoran citizen Francisco Chavez Abarca.

Chavez Abarca was arrested on July 1, 2010 at the airport in Caracas, Venezuela, while trying to enter the country using false identification documents and with the purpose of carrying out violent actions.

On July 7, 2010, he was transferred to Cuba to comply with an arrest warrant issued by Cuba to Interpol, the Cubadebate website reported.

Chavez Abarca is subject to a process of investigation and trial for being one of the main figures in the terrorist network built by the Cuban American National Foundation (CANF) and Luis Posada Carriles.
