HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 9. – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez urged the world on Sunday to support Fidel Castro’s recent calls to avoid a nuclear war as a result of the US and Israeli threats against Iran.
“We must join his call to avoid a war, which is similar to our warnings and calls for peace in Colombia, in our region and in the planet,” Chavez said during his Sunday radio and television program ‘Alo Presidente’.
The Venezuelan head of state highlighted the significance of Fidel’s reflections during an extraordinary session of the Cuban Parliament last Saturday to warn the world about the consequences that a nuclear war would bring to mankind.
Media outlets in Russia, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina and many other countries around the world continue to echo the words of the leader of the Cuban Revolution.(acn)
