Cuban Residents in Ukraine Demand End of U.S. Blockade

Kiev, Dec 13. -The Association of Cuban residents in Ukraine on Tuesday demanded the end of the U.S. criminal blockade and the release of four Cuban antiterrorist fighters, unjustly held in that northern nation, and the return of a fifth to the island.A statement approved during a national meeting of the organization in this capital also reaffirms the unconditional support to the Cuban Revolution, on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of its triumph.

The Association also requested U.S. President Barack Obama the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzales and Antonio Guerrero, as well as the definite return to Cuba of Rene Gonzalez, who already completed his sentence.

Rene must serve an additional three-year period of supervised release in U.S. territory, faced with death threats by Cuban-born extreme rightwing groups in Florida.

The statement also protests Cuba's inclusion in the list of nation sponsors of terrorism the White House draws up.

The texts collect illustrative data of damages caused to the Cuban economy by almost 50 years of the U.S. criminal blockade, in a bid to try to curb hunger and despair to the island's people and overthrow its government. (Prensa Latina)
