Havana, May 24 .- The President of the Supreme People’s Court of Cuba (TSP), Ruben Remigio Ferro, denounced that law and justice suffer outrages in different parts of the world.

‘War conflicts, increased violence and insecurity, migratory crisis, environmental disasters, terrorist actions and the rise of transnational crime are afflicting humanity,’ Ferro argued.

While we are in this congress, the planet is shaken by disastrous events, regretted the jurist when inaugurated the 9th International Justice and Law Meeting in the presence of the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Similarly, Ferro pointed out, corruption episodes of public officials proliferate.

‘Unfortunately, not in few places of the planet right and justice undergo outrages and abuses’, emphasized the TSP president.

Both precepts are submitted by force to the petty interests of individuals or groups of power that handle and trample them at their will.

The unscrupulous manipulations -he pointed out- are evidenced in the promulgation of rules and regulations that limit and undermine fundamental rights and guarantees of underprivileged segments of the population.

Also -added Ferro- in biased and unfair judicial decisions pronounced by judges in favor of the interests of groups and individuals with better position in society.

What concerns the exercise of the judicial function is the growing role of judges and courts in the twists and turns and intricacies of politics, he warned.

The 9th International Justice and Law Meeting concludes on Friday and participants from 27 countries discuss issues such as constitutional law, the rights of children and disabled people and gender approaches, among other points.
