In that sense, the diplomat recalled the Cubans that shed their blood in the struggles for the independence of African nations and embraced that cause as theirs.
By intervening in the central act for the Day of Africa, held at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Coelho ratified his rejection of the blockade and pointed out the resistance of the Cuban people to this unilateral measurethat has been imposed for almost 60 years.
Likewise, he conveyed congratulations to the newly elected Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, for the confidence the people have placed in him to lead the destiny of the Caribbean country.
