Fidel and Raul Send Wreaths to the Mausoleum to the 26 of July Martyrs
Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, July 31.- Wreaths by Commander of the Revolution Fidel Castro and Cuban President Raul Castro to the Martyrs of the Revolution were placed on Monday at the Pantheon to those who fell in combat on July 26 and in the insurgency, located at the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in this city.
Simultaneously, homage was paid by the tombs of Frank Pais, Raul Pujol, Rene Ramos Latour and the Diaz brothers (Emiliano and Carlos).
The patriotic ceremony began with the traditional tribute to Frank -leader of the underground struggle- at the Callejon del Muro, where he was cruelly assassinated by the Batista dictatorship along with Pujol, on July 30, 1957.
Adan Manuel Ramos, member of the Jose Marti Pioneer Children’s Organization, recited the poem The Hero Lives, while underground combatants Magalis Martinez and Jose Raul Lapinel placed a wreath of behalf of the people of Cuba, by the plaque that perpetuates the memory of the two revolutionaries.
Participating in these tributes were Lazaro Exposito, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and first secretary in the province, government leaders, representatives of mass organizations, combatants of the Revolution, relatives of martyrs and locals. (Radio Cadena Agramonte)
