Cuban Baseball Team Manager Happy for Win over Nicaragua

Managua, June 17. – Manager of the Cuban baseball team Roger Machado and coach Jorge Fuentes said to be satisfied with the 2-1 victory in the first friendly match of five scheduled against Nicaragua.

In exclusive remarks to Prensa Latina, Machado said "it was an interesting game, the first we played since we started the training. We did well in pitching, above all the presentation of Yander Guevara, which I think was fabulous, making us keeping an edge with a top quality work."

Fuentes also extolled the performance of the opening Nicaraguan right pitcher Alvaro Lopez, with 13 wins in the local games, and noted that Cuba was unable to score a single run before he had to leave after reaching the limit of 70 throws.

No doubt he is the best Nicaraguan pitcher and did a very good job, he said.
