Cuban Team Loses to US in World Cup
Tokyo, Dec 3. -The Cuban team lost its match against the US in five sets in the penultimate date of the World Volleyball Cup on Saturday, while Brazil beat Poland and Argentina defeated Egypt.The US team won with sets of 25-20, 14-25, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-11.Cuba now has six victories and four defeats, with 17 points. The US has the same balance but with 16 points.In the other evening match, Italy beat Japan 25-22, 26-24 and 25-22 to tie with Brazil in victories and defeats (7-3) and points (21).
Brazil beat Poland 3-2 but the latter won the right to participate in the Olympic Games next year, with 8 victories, 2 defeats and 25 points.
Russia defeated Iran 3-0 and now has 9 victories, just one defeat and 27 points, also qualifying for the 2012 Olympics.
The tournament will also grant one more ticket for the London Games.
In the afternoon, Argentina beat Egypt (1-9, 3 points) and is now 4-6, 13 points, and Serbia (4-6, 12) was the victor over China.
The last date of the competition, Sunday, will have the following program of matches: Poland-Russia, Iran-Italy, and Japan-Brazil in Group A.
